Front End Engineer/ UI/UX Designer

Lagos, Lagos   |   Full time

The Front End Engineer/ UI/UX designer will be responsible for delivering the best user experience across our digital properties by creating user-facing applications that make user experience appealing.


  • Plan and implement new designs 

  • Optimize existing user interface design in line with improving our KPIs

  • Test for intuition and experience

  • Conduct an ongoing user research

  • Design and develop new user-facing applications and features

  • Collaborate with Product Management to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

  • Create/maintain documentation on the new and existing features 

  • Experiment with design oriented methods to grow our online community from $600k to 2mn people e.g homepage redesigns

  • Maintain the website and design innovative ways to increase engagement


  • Has the ability to live and work in Lagos, Nigeria

  • Has 3 years of experience as an UI-UX Designer or similar role

  • Has a UI design portfolio

  • Has Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Has the ability to discuss and explain design options

  • Is detail oriented

  • Is a critical thinker

  • Is a problem solver and customer-centered

  • Has a good knowledge of Adobe range of products including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and Dreamweaver

  • Has 2-3 years of experience with HTML5 & CSS3

  • Has a can do attitude and is flexible enough to take on any task we throw at them

  • Is passionate, hungry and eager to build SLA into a world class institution

  • Has high professional and ethical standards i.e. understands that there’s no such thing as African time – you’re just late

  • Is comfortable taking and giving feedback

  • Has a good sense of humor – because we’ll be working hard so we better keep each other entertained

  • Is comfortable working in a startup environment where we’re making the rules up as we go along.



  • Full time position

Hours of work:

  • 50 hours per week, usual working hours are from 9:00am - 6:00pm WAT.
  • There will be a requirement from time to time to start work earlier or finish later as the role
